Vacationed In Vegas

Hi everyone! I'm back! Forgive me for being so rude and totally neglecting the blog, but I was off in Vegas floating on an inner tube. I had planned to take my USB cord and laptop to Vegas but as usual, I forgot it. You know, I actually really suck at packing. I always end up forgetting something whether it be my toothbrush or my favorite pair of shoes. Speaking of packing, I ended up taking very few items which is quite surprising because I usually pack my entire life. This time, my suitcase consisted of make-up & other beauty products, four pairs of shoes (including flat sandals, yes I occasionally wear flat shoes), three bathing suits, and the easiest pieces I could find. I've learned the best way to pack is too pack light and easy. Stick to simple garments like short frocks, maxi dresses, shorts, jumpers, and white t-shirts. My new favorite black H&M jumper, a striped Zara dress, and the white AA dress were all I needed to survive out in the city that never sleeps. Perhaps this post isn't so fashionably inspiring, but I did try to capture some of my vacation moments.

I am like the biggest lover of versatile pieces. Everything from great fitting blazers to comfortable James Perse tees, I love pieces that I can wear with almost anything in my closet. I purchased this AA white u-neck dress last weekend while frolicking the streets of Hollywood with my boyfriend. I bought it in a size medium to avoid the " skank" factor and also because the dress tends to shrink after a few washes (I once owned the black u-neck dress). My family and I are going vacationing in Vegas this weekend, so I'll definitely take this little body-con number with me.
Ps. Sometimes I take a few days to respond to some of your comments, but I DO respond. Just keep checking back!

Denim Affair

The weather has cooled down a bit. If I recall correctly, it was only 80 degrees today. So delicious.
This morning I went to get my hair toned and bangs trimmed (note the perfectly straightened hair). Why is it that when I attempt to straighten my hair like this, it comes out like beach hair? So lame!
Anyways, as I previously stated I am so sick of freakin jean shorts. It's not that I don't like them, because I really do. It's just that I've been wearing them a ridiculous amount and I've become a bit tired of them. So I decided to wear my man pants with this wonderfully constructed vintage blouse I came across last year. It had some pretty intense shoulder pads that I removed because I felt it was too much for me. You know what? I think shoulder pads need to make a comeback- hmmmm....

Beauty post

Photobucket

I am not one to wear a full face of makeup everyday. Most week days you can catch me bare-faced with a touch of mascara. Usually on the weekends is when I'll take the time and effort to glamorize myself. So I decided to post some of my favorite beauty finds as well as a few of my favorite looks- the sultry eye, a bright red lips, and the "brown smokey eye".
1. Laura Mercier oil-free foundation primer- No matter how little or how much makeup I wear that day, I always dab a bit of this silky primer on my face. I really love this product because it hydrates my dry skin and acts almost like an invisible band-aid protecting my skin from the grossness of the environment. And as cheesy as this may sound, it really makes my skin glow.
2. Dior Crayon Eyeliner/Revlon Brown Luxurious Color Liner- I prefer a more left-over eye makeup look and that's why the Dior eyeliner is absolutely ravishing. The liner is easy to smudge creating a quick smokey eye. It's also waterproof which is great when applying to the inner eyelids. Another one of my favorite eyeliners is the Revlon Luxurious color liner in brown. I like to wear with other tones of brown shadows to create that perfect brown smokey eye. It's a nice change from the usual black smokey eye.
3. Benefit 10- I've tried many bronzers in the past and they all left my cheek orange or super bubble gum pink. This one creates a natural bronzed look while giving you a girly glow. Highly recommended!
4. Rosebud Salve- Absolutely the best lip treatment there is. It has a bit of gloss, but for the most part it is pretty natural-looking. I've never been one to embrace the whole juicy lip gloss trend so this lip balm is perfect for me.
5. Maybelline Full N Soft Mascara- It makes your lashes full and thick, yet still keeps your eyelashes looking natural. It's perfect.
6. OPI Vodka and Caviar nail polish- LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! My completely un-feminine fingernails are concealed in this rich crimson color.
7. Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow- You would think that just because it's creme shadow it would totally crease, but surprisingly it doesn't at all. They're very easy to use and it comes with four different shadows so you can get create with the colors. I love the "not just nudes" colors, I wear them with my smudged brown eyeliner.
8. Nars Velvet Matte lip pencil- This is the only product on the list of favorites that I have not yet tried. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am totally dying to try the bright red lipsticks and all. I still haven't found the right red, but the color "dragonfly" looks promising...

Ps. Sorry about the picture issue earlier... the dilemma has been resolved! Night!

When I Grow Up

This oh so very simple look felt so right today...so comfortable and relaxed. I actually purchased these trousers at Kohl's in the children's section. They're so loose and easy! I recommend searching the boy's sections of stores for great versatile pieces. Their clothes are much more basic, so it is easier to incorporate them into your wardrobe.

Look at my new blazer! I love love love it! It's one of those pieces that feels as if it were made for my body. Perfect cut, perfect sleeves, perfect fit, simply perfect! I paired it with a black silk jumper and my Louboutins. I have a photoshoot tomorrow morning and I'm beyond excited. I'll definitely post pictures as soon as I'm able to. I should probably go to bed and get some rest, buenas noches!

Summer Love

There is nothing better than lazy days at the beach sipping on watermelon juice and strawberry smoothies.

Wild Thing

This off-white blazer will certainly be in constant rotation this summer. It's thin material and loose fit makes it the perfect piece for the scorching heat. Speaking of summer and scorching heat, I am currently bathing suit shopping and I have found two bikinis that I really love (I'll post pictures of them soon). Finals are over tomorrow so I will be able to about post more, link everyone back, and respond to your comments. Night sexy beasts!

Frolicking on Venice

Happy Father's Day (even though most of you reading this probably aren't fathers)! I love you daddy/photographer/financial advisor! Oh and Happy Birthday to my stylish little brother!
Today was a day full of precious adventures. I went to church, then we went to have delicious Peruvian food, you have to try it, it's a taste of heaven really. We also made a trip to Venice beach where I found some pretty awesome backgrounds and decided it was a perfect photo op for blog pictures.
I decided to wear my men trousers that I stumbled upon while attempting to find a gift for my little brother. They're so perfect, so comfortable and they seem quite versatile too. Since the weather is beginning to heat up, I paired them up with a simple white t-shirt (also mens...ahh I'm freakin manly!!) Perhaps in the cold winter season, I'll pair these trousers with dark blazers, chunky scarves, and socks. Hmmm, I shall experiment...
Also, I need to tone my hair and trim my bangs. I can barely see the road ahead of me, how ridiculous. I really want to grow my hair long, like Rapunzel. And although I heard some people's hair won't grow past a certain length, I am determined to have a head full of cascading waves.

Inspired by: Men's fashion

Photobucket

Yes yes, I know that none of these pictures are of stylish women, but lately I've actually been quite inspired by men's style. Check out those crisp oxford shirts, loose fitted trousers, slick blazers, and colored skinny ties, ugh, so amazing. Their sense of style seems to focus on pure classic-ness rather than looking so trend driven. I plan to incorporate a lot of their simple and understated pieces into my wardrobe. Hopefully I'll look nearly half as cool as some of these stylish bad boys...

Gothic meets Grecian

My day today consisted of cinnamon raisin bagels, power point presentations, soy Chai lattes (of course), and piano-playing. For those of you who have asked me about my music and such, I am currently working on some material, which I am composing all myself, and when it is out and ready you guys will definitely be the first to hear it :) I'm also planning to post videos of my performances as soon as I can.
Sooooo, I'm really contemplating trying red lipstick... Hmmm, hopefully I won't look like I sucked on blood or something. I'll post pictures (beauty post, duh). Also, I decided to play around with this gray grecian-like vintage dress I found buried underneath a mess of printed summer frocks. Clearly, it's too much to wear in the day so I decided to tone it down with my mother's black and white blazer. Just playing around with a look...something I tend to do quite frequently.

LOVE: American Apparel

Photobucket
American Apparel has become quite popular over the last few years. I remember when I first visited one and I seriously wanted to purchase every single item in the store. My first AA piece was a super versatile black u-neck dress. I still wear it to this day. Anyways, I have spent the entire morning lurking their website and have to come to realize that I desperately need these five items:
1. Melange jersey pocket romper (in Melange fire)- My heart has longed for a jumper since winter time, yet it has been so difficult finding one that I looked rather decent in. When I spotted this one, it was like love at first sight. I'd wear this casual jumper in a larger size for that oversized look, and a studded belt to seal the deal. Perhaps I'd also pair it with a dark blue blazer or a charcoal gray cardigan? Hmmm..
2. Bull denim skirt (in lavender or purple, still undecided)- Ahhhh I love this skirt in both colors, so bewildered as to which one would be the easiest to incorporate into my wardrobe. When I purchase this skirt (because I WILL), I'm gonna wear it with gray blazers, white vintage tees, distressed leather jackets, and of course my Marc by Marc boots. Can't wait until it's mine!
3. Shiny Too-short tube dress (in lame black)- This piece seems quite versatile. Toying with the idea of wearing it with a recent purchase, a bright mustard blazer. Brainstorming ideas of wearing it with white simple white tees, chic black blazers, bright funky shoes, and over-worn dark gray tees.
4. U-neck dress (in white)- Perhaps it might be a bit too see-through, but fear not, I have created a plan for this skanky item. I'm definitely going to wear it with other pieces that are longer than it, like my dark blue blazer, my boyfriend's collared blue shirt, and perhaps a fur coat in the winter.
5. Tri-blend leggings- They only come in their infamous tri-blend gray. Planning to wear these cozy leggings with satin tops, oversized knit cardigans, and colored plaid shirts. I will most likely purchase them closer to the winter season.

Wearing It again...

Photobucket
Maybe I should really consider quitting this bad habit of wearing the same pieces over and over again, but I just can't help myself. As soon as I spotted this frilly dark blue top, I immediately pictured it with floral skirts, super skinny jeans, schoolboy pants, bandage skirts, and even my favorite Levis (see last post). Today I decided to pair my treasured piece with a floral skirt and toughened my look with my ever so popular Marc by Marc boots to add an edge to an otherwise super girlish outfit. I really think you can create so many different looks from just one simple piece. You really don't have to purchase a new blouse or a new pair of trousers ever week to keep your wardrobe looking innovative. You just got to toy with all the different options your closet offers (belts, shoes, jewelry, etc) and incorporate your "favorite" (aka over-worn) piece into the look you're going for!

It was really nice to hear your suggestions as far as making the blog more exciting goes. Totally gonna do video posts, more board posts, "different occasions" post, etc.
Lately, I feel like I've discovered my own personal style. I believe blogging and such has encouraged me and inspired me to wear what feels real and comfortable.... that was a bit random but I just thought I'd throw that out there. Anyways, I'm going to bed... DEAD BEAT!

Brite Spot

Normally, I am not one to venture out into the bright color zone. BUT.. today I made an exception.

So this morning, I impatiently waited for my other pair of Marc by Marc boots and when they arrived, I almost died. I immediately tried them on and decided they were made for my foot. Like cinderella and the glass slipper. It was a beautiful moment. Also, some of you asked me about the sizing of these boots and they run sort of small. I'm normally a size 7.5 and these particular ones are an 8.5. The suede boots were originally $650, but on sale for $266 while the leather boots were originally $850 and are on sale for $340 (both on sale at net-a-porter.com) Check them out here and here.
